No Time to Die- Movie Review

Directed by: Cary Joji Fukunaga

Starring: Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Jeffrey Wright, Ana de Armas

It’s over. They killed him. They killed James Bond.

007 will live on but James Bond is dead, this time for real. And that’s too bad. There aren’t going to be anymore James Bond movies. There will be 007 movies but that is not the same- and it’s never gonna be the same.

Up until now, they have replaced actors while keeping the character- now they killed the character. For millions of fans that was something unthinkable but now it’s a reality.

Even if in the next 007 movie they try to clone the character or if they try to do something impossible: to resurrect him using his DNA, it still will not be the same. Ever.

While closing one franchise after 15 years, Daniel Craig is probably planning on spending the next 15 years in another franchise, “Knives Out.” But, why did he have to destroy all the bridges for the James Bond franchise? He was good but not the best James Bond. So, even if he was the best- that doesn’t give him the right to kill the legend, to dismiss the most iconic action character of all time. Because, who cares about 007 if that 007 is not James Bond? Nobody. And, as he said in the last movie of the James Bond Franchise: “007? That is just a number!” But, James Bond is not just a number and now he is gone forever.

Speaking about the movie “No Time to Die”- it is a kind of action drama. It is the longest of all the James Bond movies. Retired secret agent is getting active again trying to save the world from a deadly DNA virus invented by a crazy Russian scientist. Bond’s villains (one old, but another one brand new) join forces, and they are so dangerous when they are together.

The final Bond’s action is destroying the secret island where his enemies are mass producing the deadly DNA virus. He saves his new love and her daughter, he will save the world but this time he will not be able to save himself. He is killed in the missile attack on the targeted island. He ordered the attack by himself and did not have time to get out from the targeted island.

So stupid and naive in the end.

Rami Malek in the role of the new villain Lucifer is good- nothing more than that. Christoff Waltz in the role of the old villain Blofeld has just a very short appearance. All the girls around are okay. Anne de Armas has a short, but very effective appearance in one of the best action sequences in the movie.

Go and watch the movie. Especially because this is the last time you will have a chance to see James Bond. Everything after this will be just 007.
